Ali’s Little Lending Children’s Library & Blessings Box Unveiled To Honor Special Pre-school Alumni
On July 18th, young children, their families and the community can begin to enjoy Ali’s Little Lending Children’s Library & Blessings Box, a unique resource center dedicated to Apple Tree Early Care and Education alumni, Ali Shae Coleman.
Ali was just 6 years old when she lost her battle with cancer in 2015, and Wendee Webb, director of the center, wishes to honor Ali and her love of books and reading.
“Ali would have been 9 years old this month,” said Webb. “I can’t think of a more beautiful birthday gift than a library in her honor.”
“She took so much comfort in reading, she absolutely adored books,” said Ali’s mother Tiffany Coleman. “Both of my kids attended Apple Tree where they developed a love of reading early on.”
Webb said Ali’s Little Lending Children’s Library & Blessings Box will sit within a small community garden at the school. Webb said in addition to the community children’s library the Blessings Box will contain a non-perishable food pantry where families can leave or take items.
“We want families to use Ali’s Little Library to share their favorite books with each other, and our vision is to see children reading to their family members in the garden.”
Webb would like to invite all members of the community to attend the library dedication on July 18th at 3:30pm at Apple Tree Early Care and Education Center, where light refreshments will be served.
